LONDON. January 24, 2018: An MQM delegation comprising Coordination Committee members Syed Mustafa Azizabadi, Mr. Sufyan Yousuf, MQM United Kingdom organiser Hashim Azam and MQM United Kingdom Central Organising Committee member Mr. Asif Saeed submitted a petition on the subject of custodial death of slain MQM senior leader Prof. Dr Hassan Zafar Arif to the British Premier Theresa May at the residence of her at 10-Downing Street. Ms. Theresa May’s representative received the petition.

The delegation besides the petition presented a booklet on life of slain Prof. Arif.

In the petition, the British Premier is informed of custodial death of him, his unlawful arrest in 2016 and torture in custody followed by continuous threats for dire consequences for not partying ways with MQM founder and leader Mr. Altaf Hussain, which he declined to accept and continued to work under the dynamic leadership of his leader until he was kidnapped by the security forces and silenced to death in custody. His last unlawful arrest was made by the security forces while he was on his way to his home on Jan 13, 2018 and the other day was found dead on the rear seat of his personal car from Ibrahim Hyderi area, which is under strict surveillance of Pakistan Navy and is protected with huge numbers of CCTVs.

MQM has in the petition laid a demand for explanation form Pakistani delegate on official duty in United Kingdom on custodial execution of slain MQM senior leader Prof. Arif, who was a well-known scholar, a thinker, academician and teaching Professor at University of Karachi. The petition also requested the British Premier to seek explanation from Pakistan’s delegate in the United Kingdom on arbitrary arrests of MQM workers, enforced disappearances custodial executions and severe scale violations of human rights and use her influence on Pakistan to stop state repression against Mohajirs.
