ALLEGING MQM OF LAWLESSNESS IN KARACHI IS DENIAL OF REAL FACTS

The peaceful atmosphere and tranquility was prevailing in Karachi prior to 1992 and the city’s overall law and order was caused to deteriorate with the launch of military operation in Karachi in 1992. The Haqiqi terrorists under the patronage of the military establishment, equipped with military’s arms and ammunition were dropped in nook and cranny of the city. The Haqiqi terrorists were allowed to commit all kinds of crimes with complete freedom. They were picked and gathered and then brought in Karachi in military trucks.

LONDON. December 14, 2017: Muttahidda Qaumi Movement’s (MQM) Coordination Committee has in rebuttal to a statement made by the paramilitary Rangers Director general Major General Muhammad Saeed said that it is an absolute absurd statement in which the paramilitary Rangers DG has alleged the Movement for the lawlessness in Karachi. The statement has a purpose to defame and malign the Movement and shift the failure of the paramilitary Rangers and other law enforcement forces to the Movement.

“The peaceful atmosphere and tranquility was prevailing in Karachi prior to 1992 and was caused to deteriorate with the launch of military operation in Karachi in 1992”, it said. “The Haqiqi terrorists under the patronage of the military establishment, equipped with military’s arms and ammunition were dropped in nook and cranny of the city.”

Haqiqi terrorists were allowed to commit all kinds of crimes with complete freedom. They were picked and gathered and then brought in Karachi in military trucks, said the Coordination Committee.

It said that with the launch of the military operation on Jun 19, 1992, and creation of Haqiqi terrorists group by the military, people in the city particularly Mohajir youth were executed in large number and the extrajudicial executions of Mohajir youth had exceeded 20, 000. Those extrajudicially executed included brother and nephew of founder leader of the Movement Mr. Altaf Hussain.

It is on record that the government of Pakistan People’s Party was dismissed by the then President on charges of extrajudicial executions of Mohajir youth, it added.

It further said that the MQM has all moral and legal rights to seek explanation from the state institutions why not a single security forces’ personnel including that of Police has not been tried and taken to task for carrying out extrajudicial executions of Mohajirs.

MQM also seeks explanation from the military establishment as why commitment for investigation in extrajudicial executions of Mohajirs by the paramilitary Rangers was not carried and those involved in such heinous crime are spared, said the Coordination Committee, adding that the ex-military chief General (Retd.) Rahil Sharif had publicly admitted the extrajudicial executions of Mohajirs and promised to initiate investigation in it but he did not do it because those, who killed Mohajirs in custody and extrajudicially are from the security forces.

MQM asks as why the extortionists and kidnappers for ransom, who kidnapped city’s traders and businessmen and executed those who could not pay the ransom, are spared. Why Lyari Gangwar terrorists who kidnapped Mohajir youth in PPP’s government in 2008, confirmed their identity and then executed them are not arrested and taken to task? The Coordination Committee questioned.

It further asked as why MQM voice of concern was rejected and action was avoided against the hardened criminals, extortionists. MQM seeks explanation from the security forces of Pakistan as how religious zealots were allowed to establish their safe havens in Karachi and bathe the people in blood through sectarian violence?

MQM Coordination Committee said that the situation in Karachi is very grave as people are insecure and are robbed and killed at their door steps as the criminals feel no bar in executing their criminal plans.  The paramilitary Rangers are in Karachi since 1989 but the graph of crime is constantly rising.

It asked whether it is the job of the military establishment to create factions in political parties, divide political parties and bring forward opponents from within the party. Mohajirs have been facing state repression and atrocities and injustices since decades and their issues are not only left unaddressed but they are being crushed for demanding their rights and that they are pushed against the wall. The military establishment has, on the other hand, compelled party men to change their loyalty and thus created factions in MQM so as to weaken the Movement and keep Mohajirs deprived of their legal rights as citizens.

It was a matter of grave concern that the military establishment patronised the zealots in Islamabad and called them “Own people” but inflicted atrocities on Mohajir men and women, senescent and youth, who just wanted to visit grave of their martyrs and offer prayers for the departed souls of the martyrs.

The Coordination Committee said that the state repression and discriminatory treatment, atrocities and use of force might cause Mohajirs to tolerate these agonizing acts but their hearts can never be modified.
