MQM condemns Rangers’ order to close trade union offices
Posted on: 7/3/2016 1
The Coordination Committee of Muttahida Quami Movement strongly condemned the Rangers’ order to close the offices of MQM’s or its supported trade unions from government or semi-government institutions and terminations of MQM workers from their jobs.
In a statement, the Coordination Committee said that the order was an attempt to exploit MQM and Muhajirs economically and politically. It said that MQM’s political offices were shut down by a devised conspiracy to create fear among the people by arresting innocent political workers and supporters.
The Committee said that the Rangers ordered the officials to terminate MQM workers and supporters from their jobs. It said that some of the government employees were feared to be killed extra-judicially like Dr Farooq Sattar’s Coordinator Aftab Ahmed in the custody of Law Enforcement agencies while they were treated ghost employees.
The Coordination Committee said that the banned-outfit were freely carrying out their activities and could open offices in various parts of the city and given license to collect Fitra and Zakat from outside the mosques. It said that meanwhile, MQM workers were illegally or arbitrarily arrested and threatened.
The Committee said that after killing Muhajir youths, the authorities planned to deprive them economically. It said that the operation was begun to eliminate the terrorism from Karachi but it was now clear that the operation was to eliminate MQM from the political scenario. It said that the Rangers’ new order was an open violation of human rights and country’s Constitution.
The Coordination Committee strongly condemned the Rangers to plan attempt to damage financially and economically to the entire Urdu-speaking community. It said that the terrorist organizations were collecting the Fitra and Zakat under the protection of Rangers in the city.
The Committee demanded the Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif, Interior Minister Chaudhry Nisar Ali Khan and Chief of Army Staff General Raheel Sharif to take notice of such discriminating and prejudicial order from the Rangers. It appealed to the human rights organizations to raise their voices against such violations of people’s rights.
