Authorities intentionally trying to convict MQM for Sabri’s murder: Dr Farooq Sattar

KARACHI, 29-06-2016:
The Senior Deputy Convener of Coordination Committee Dr Farooq Sattar said that the Muttahida Quami Movement (MQM) was conspicuously being accused for the brutal killing of Shaheed Amjad Sabri.

Addressing to a press conference at Khursheed Begum Secretariat, Azizabad, Dr Farooq Sattar said that the kidnapping of Awais Shah Advocate son of Chief Justice Sindh Syed Sajjad Shah, targeted-killing of an Ahmedi doctor, activities of extortion mafia and new wave of street crimes in the city once again posted serious question mark on the ongoing Karachi-operation. He said it clearly seemed that the on and off switch was being operated from somewhere else.

He said that Karachi had nothing but successive operations but never got any relief package like other cities and areas where the operations were carried on. He said that whenever the authorities, including civil or army sat together always decided another new operation but never thought about any relief package.

Dr Farooq Sattar said that the Karachiites were never given any relief announcement after such sittings of army and political leaderships. He said that the press conference was an SOS call from Karachiites to provide their basic essentials because people started feeling insecurity and deprivation.

He said that for the last 70 years, the Karachiites were being deprived of their basic rights that caused serious alienation among others. He said that when the capital was shifted to Islamabad after the assassination of Prime Minister Liaquat Ali Khan, the people sensed the biasness and discriminations of the elite.

MQM Senior Deputy Convener said that the people were being punished for their commitment and dedication with MQM Chief Mr. Altaf Hussain because they always supported him despite various pressure and threats. He said that it was evident that the operation was started on MQM’s suggestion but turned towards MQM now while all the crimes, including targeted-killings, extortion, encroachment and street crimes seemed showing upward trend.

He said that the Chief of Army Staff General Raheel Sharif took notice of the extra-judicial or custodial killing of MQM worker and his political Coordinator Aftab Ahmed but even after passing more than one and half month nothing happened in the case. He said that no investigation was carried on and no information regarding the case was shared with the people.

Dr Farooq said that MQM was always being accused for all such incidents easily while the civil and security forces trying to convict MQM for doing nothing. He said that the Karachiites had various issues, including unemployment, transport, water and electricity crisis, despite sitting to resolve their issues, the authorities always got together to discuss devising new plans to carry out the operations.

He said that for the last seven years the local bodies’ system was not there so all the civic issues were piled up and the provincial government did not seem doing anything for Karachiites. He demanded the authorities to give at least 3000 jobs to the Karachiites out of 20000 jobs in Karachi police to maintain peace in the city.
