 Posted on: 6/13/2016
The Convener of Muttahida Quami Movement Nadeem Nusrat said that the Muhajirs had been suffering serious violations and discriminations of their due rights in Pakistan and it was made crime to demand for the rights.
Addressing to a gathering on the occasion of 38th Foundation Day of All Pakistan Muttahida Students Organization (APMSO), the Convener of Pakistan’s fourth largest political party said that the state machineries made the peaceful struggle for the rights a crime and killed more than 20 thousands innocent political workers. He said currently the ban on MQM Chief’s speeches; news, views and pictures were sheer violation of country’s Constitution.
He said that their only crime was to demand the due rights in a country that was founded by their ancestors’ inevitable sacrifices. He said that the Muhajirs were just asking to get the least rights given to the other communal groups of the country, like Punjabi, Sindhi, Baloch and Pukhtoon.
Nadeem Nusrat said that the Muhajirs were being asked that what was their problem but nobody wanted to talk about the clear discrimination and violation of the rights of urban people in Sindh. He said that the unnecessary delay of empowering local bodies’ system for the last seven months and the PPP’s led government continuously carried out ambushes on the authorities of local government.

He said that the government on the bases of floor majority in Sindh Assembly, kept amending the Constitution and giving all power to the Chief Minister, even the authority to collect the garbage, water distribution mechanism and power of Karachi Building Control Authority. He said that it was shameful that the authority to nominate Vice-Chancellors for the universities was given to the Chief Minister from Governor Sindh.
Nadeem Nusrat said that the Quota System was imposed in 1973 only for the period of 10 years but it was conspicuously continued so far. He said that Karachi police had almost no representation of the city dwellers while the Sindh Secretariat seemed no-go area for Muhajirs.
He said that as much as the discriminating elements used their malice tactics against the innocent Muhajirs, their determination and dedication got more strengthened. He said that despite all such suppressions, the people of urban Sindh kept supporting MQM and Altaf Hussain and it was evident in the current series of by-elections in the city areas of Sindh.
MQM Convener Nadeem Nusrat also felicitated all the workers and supporters of All Pakistan Muttahida Students Organization (APMSO) on 38th Foundation Day and Ramadan. Meanwhile, Secretary General MQM UK Manzoor Ahmed, member Organizing Committee Shabnum Fatmi also addressed the gathering, while members London Coordination Committee Mustafa Azizabadi and Qasim Ali Raza presented their poetic creations.
