Karachi:- 01-09-2013,
Muttahida Qaumi Movement’s Rabita Committee has condemned the government’s decision to increase the prices of petrol, kerosene oil and diesel in the strongest possible terms. They added that the new government has badly disappointed the people by increasing the prices of petroleum products.
People were already badly affected by inflation, unemployment and terrorism. They are unable to make both ends meet because of ongoing crisis. Now the increase in petroleum products prices will further increase the hardships and woes of people.
The Rabita Committee lamented the present government increased the prices of petroleum products like the previous government. People were expecting that the government would not increase the prices of basic commodities and provide relief to people in petroleum products, electricity and gas prices and in the basic services. However, the initiatives taken by the present government indicate that their expectations from the present government would not be fulfilled.
The Rabita Committee has said that increase in the prices of the petroleum products at a time when the country is facing inflation and unemployment, is not in the interest of the people and the country. The increase will directly affect people and will increase the prices of basic commodities and transport fares. It will also increase inflation other areas.
The Rabita Committee has demanded of the Prime Minister of Pakistan Mian Nawaz Shareef to take the anti-people decision back and offer more subsidies in petroleum products. This will be a positive step.
