Central Coordination Committee of Muttahida Quami Movement (MQM) has categorically rejected allegations of Shaharyar Khan Niazi, the former British deputy head of Mission in Karachi, attributed to Mr. Altaf Hussain, founder and leader of Muttahida Quami Movement, reported in the News International of 10th April 2016.
The Coordination Committee has confirmed that Mr. Hussain has categorically denied to have ever held such a meeting with any foreign diplomat nor he has made any contract with any international agency against Pakistan. The allegations to this effect are preposterous and are firmly rejected.
The Committee further added that the said news item has been referred to MQM legal team for further action.
MQM Central Coordination Committee said that it is unfortunate that some newspapers and their reporters are solely focused on issues that are of no real benefit to the people of Pakistan. What is important is the fact that MQM achieved historical victory in all major cities of Sindh province, including Karachi, in the last local government elections almost six months ago, but the elections for mayors and chairmen have not been held as yet. The people of Sindh are suffering due to lack of local governments and demand that elections are held forthwith.
The MQM’s Central Coordination Committee is also contacting the Foreign & Commonwealth Office (FCO) and other British Authorities to clarify the position, in the wake of Mr. Hussain’s complete denial.
