MQM lashes out at govt for depriving LG institutions of funds

MQM lashes out at govt for depriving LG institutions of funds
 Posted on: 8/26/2013
Voicing serious concern over filthy environment and dilapidated conditions of roads in Karachi, Hyderabad and other districts of the province, Muttahida Quami Movement’s Coordination Committee, attributed it to non-provision of funds to local government institutions and non-payment of salaries to their employees.
The Coordination Committee demanded of Sindh government to release the funds of the local government institutions, besides ensuring disbursement of salaries among their employees without any further delay.
Drawing the attention of the government towards prevailing unhygienic condition and inundation of roads and streets in Karachi and Hyderabad in the aftermath of recent rains, the Committee said that the civic agencies in the wake of non-provision of their funds were unable to remove stagnant water from roads and streets, carryout repairing of bartered roads, dispose of garbage from roads, besides ensuring payment of salaries to their employees.
The Coordination Committee said that filthy environment prevailing in both the cities has made the citizens lives miserable as the heaps of garbage  accumulated on roads and streets have created a filthy environment and as a result of which people were becoming victim of various diseases.
The Committee deplored that although stagnant on roads and streets have become breeding grounds for mosquitoes, Sindh government was continuously depriving the civic agencies of their funds and as a result of which funds were not available with them even for carrying out fumigation campaigns and purchasing diesel required for garbage vans.
Lashing out at Sindh government for stopping funds of local government institutions of Karachi, Hyderabad and other districts of the province, the Coordination Committee said that the government’s act of depriving employees of the civic bodies on the eve of Eid-ul-Fitr amounted to injustice with the employees as they and their families have been passing through mental agonies.
The Committee urged the Sindh Chief Minister Syed Qaim Ali Shah to shun the practice of victimizing the residents of urban areas of the province, by immediately releasing the funds of local government institutions of Karachi, Hyderabad and other districts, besides ensuring disbursement of salaries among their employees without any further delay.
