Karachi deprived despite paying 70% revenue: Altaf Hussain

The founder and leader of Muttahida Quami Movement Mr. Altaf Hussain said Karachi is the financial hub of the country and the 6th largest city in the world and has been generating nearly 70 percent of the total revenue.
Talking to a gathering of industrialists, traders, and people of various walks of life at Defence and Clifton Residence Committee (DCRC), MQM Chief said the city is continuously being deprived of its due rights. He said that the provincial government also treated the city like a stepchild.
He said that the country’s population exceeded up to 200 million, so for better governance and administrative system, there needed to create at least 20 more provinces. He also suggested to empowering the people through LG system and let them resolve their basic issues on the ground.
Mr. Hussain mentioned that the judicial system of the country seemed partial because the rich could escape from the law while the commoner had to face the brutality of the legal system. He said that a case was registered against him because he discussed the process of human fertility.
He said that MQM was born among middle and lower-middle class students and continuously struggling against the discrimination and prejudices of the ruling elite with the people. He said that MQM kept raising its voice for the rights of the women and wanted to give them an equal opportunity along with the men.
MQM Chief said that he gave shelter to people declared as Karo and Kari in interior Sindh, and if it was his sin to save people’s lives then kept doing so. He said that MQM’s only moto was to serve the people and resolve their issues. He also appealed to the participants of the gathering to utilize their time for MQM and the cause to provide relief to the people.
