Muttahida Quami Movement’s Deputy Convener, Engr. Nasir Jamal, exhorted the inhabitants of urban areas of Sindh to get prepared for a struggle aimed at achieving their rights.
In a hard-hitting statement issued on Tuesday, the MQM leader said that the Pakistan People’s Party which has been confined to Sindh after facing crushing defeat in the recent elections was now fighting for its survival. Under such circumstance, the narrow-minded leadership of provincial PPP while taking shelter under its prejudiced policy was nowadays busy in creating misunderstanding and hatred among permanent residents of Sindh, he added.
He said that the local government bill adopted in Sindh Assembly on Monday was a clear proof of the PPP’s hatred and anti-people policy.
The MQM leader urged the PPP to realize that the ground realities have been changed as the ratio of population in Sindh has been changed altogether and where the urban population has far exceeded than the rural population and all the statistics available now was a clear proof of our claim.
In this regard, Mr Jamal said that when PPP could seek help of the United Nations in the investigations of martyrdom of Benazir Bhutto, the urban population of Sindh was also justified in demanding population census, fresh de-limitation of constituencies and polls under the supervision of the United Nations.
He said that since the urban population of Sindh had been deprived of their rights since long in the wake of population census carried out under the supervision of prejudiced people, the urban population should get ready for launching struggle for their rights.
