Founder and Leader of Muttahida Quami Movement (MQM) telephoned Federal Interior Minister Rehman Malik and expressed his concerns on the killings of the MQM workers in Karachi. He informed Mr Malik about the details and said that five workers of the MQM had been killed in various areas of Karachi in the last three days. The MQM workers gunned down include Khursheed Iqbal who was a former UC Nazim from Malir and Anwer Alam who had been a councillor in Jamshed Town.

Mr Hussain said that the killings of the MQM workers in quick succession were highly condemnable. He asked Mr Malik to take serious notice of the events occurring in Karachi and said that the killers should be arrested. He said that effective steps should be taken to improve the law and order situation in Karachi.

Mr Malik extended sympathies on the killings of the MQM workers and gave assurance that the incidents of killings would be fully investigated, and the killers would be brought to book.
