According to the spokesman of Muttahida Quami Movement the representatives of both the MQM and Pakistan People’s Party (PPP) held a meeting at Chief Minister House regarding the local body system in Sindh.
PPP presented the document about local bodies system while the MQM gave suggestions about the system.
MQM delegation was comprising of MQM Central Coordination Committee member Kanwar Naveed Jamil, parliamentary leader of MQM in National Assembly Dr Farooq Sattar, opposition leader in Sindh Assembly Faisal Sabzwari, the parliamentary leader in Sindh Assembly Syed Sardar Ahmed while the members of PPP delegation were senior provincial minister for Education Nisar Khoro, provincial information minister Sharjeel Memon and provincial law minister Dr Sikander Mandehro.
MQM delegation categorically stated to the government delegation that in the light of the constitution’s Article 140-A, MQM wants to establish effective and powerful local government.
The second round of the negotiations will be held on 17th August.
