Condemning the attempt on the life of Sindh Assembly’s Member Kamran Akhtar, Muttahida Qaumi Movement chief Altaf Hussain termed the incident `a conspiracy to spoil the city’s law and order situation’.
In a hard-hitting statement issued on Tuesday, the MQM chief demanded of the Sindh Governor Dr Ishratul Ibad and Chief Minister Syed Qaim Ali Shah to immediately take notice of such a cowardice act, nab the culprits involved in the incident, giving them exemplary punishment.
Describing the attempt on the life of the MPA, hand-grenade attacks on Aga Khan Jamaat Khanas, situated at Karimabad and SITE Area `a heinous crime’, Mr Hussain said that some elements were bent upon spoiling the city’s peace to achieve their nefarious designs.
He directed the MQM’s office-bearers and elected representatives to remain alert and take preventative steps.
Mr Hussain also urged them not to get provoked over such acts of terrorism, instead make all-out efforts to fail the conspiracy aimed at spoiling the city’s peace by remaining peaceful.
He also urged the Sindh Governor and Chief Minister to help provide security to all the elected representatives of the MQM.
