Solar and Alternate energy projects be initiated to overcome Energy Crisis and Loadshedding – Altaf Hussain

Government should encourage and help private sector for Alternate Energy projects
The Founder and Leader of Muttahida Quami Movement Mr Altaf Hussain has directed MQM Co Ordination Committee and elected representatives from London that “In order to overcome energy crisis and loadshedding in the country, solar and alternate energy projects should be initiated on self reliance basis so that electricity and water can be provided to the people and do not rely only on government steps. MQM should play its ‘leading role’ in this regard and to provide electricity to maximum houses and buildings in Karachi, Hyderabad and other cities of the country, work should immediately be started to provide electricity through solar energy projects”.
Mr Hussain said that it was crystal clear that apart of facing the menace of terrorism, energy crisis is yet another big challenge for Pakistan. The people of the country had been going through miserable times due to constant loadshedding, which was hampering the industrial growth, thousands of industrial units had been shifted out of the country, which resulted unemployment. He regretted that there was no consensus on national policy against terrorism and energy crisis. He added that “One solution is that we do nothing and rely only on Government; and the second solution is that we have to help ourselves and initiate projects for alternate energy so that the problems of people of the country can precisely be addressed”.
Mr Hussain said “Almighty Allah has bestowed many natural resources to Pakistan and solar energy is on top of these. If we amicably use solar energy, the energy crisis can be controlled”.
He directed MQM Co Ordination Committee and Haq Parast Parliamentarians that instead of relying only on government to overcome loadshedding and energy crisis, solar and alternate energy projects have to be taken place immediately on self reliance basis. He also directed Haq Parast Parliamentarians, that necessary legislations had to be framed in order to wave duty on imports on machinery and other parts which can be used in alternate energy projects.
Mr Hussain urged the Government to encourage the private projects for alternate energy and provide subsidies for such projects so that maximum people could be benefited by generating sufficient solar energy for their domestic and industrial usages and could also save foreign exchange. He also appealed of Government that loans and lands on concessionary basis be provided to encourage skilled workers. Mr Hussain also appealed the youth belonging to Engineering sector to utilize their utmost efforts for generating viable and cheap energy from alternate energy projects.
