Muttahida Qaumi Movement’s Coordination Committee’s Deputy Convener, Dr Khalid Maqbool Siddiqui said here on Wednesday that the MQM was the brainchild of Mr Altaf Hussain while Khidmat-i-Khalq Foundation (KKF) which was established prior to the party came into being was an ample proof of Mr Hussain’s selfless services towards the ailing humanity.
The KKF being a purely non-political welfare organization had been distributing relief goods worth millions of rupees each year among needy, handicapped, widows and orphans since long in cooperation with Haq Parast people, particularly with the assistance of philanthropists, he added.
Dr Siddiqui was speaking to the participants of a well-attended annual relief goods distribution programme held here on Wednesday under the aegis of KKF at Azizabad’s Jinnah ground. The event was largely attended, among others, by the MQM’s Coordination Committee’s deputy conveners Dr Nusrat, Engr. Nasir Jamal, Members, Haq Parast MNAs and MPAs, Ulema, journalists, poets, writers, diplomats, businessmen, industrialists and other elite of the city who also distributed relief goods among the needy people.
The relief goods worth millions of rupees distributed among thousands of poor, widows, orphans, and other deserving people included sewing machines, grocery, cycle, fans, blankets, wheel-chairs, clothes, pushcarts loaded with fruits and vegetables and even the cash.
Expressing his satisfaction that the KKP keeping its tradition alive had organized its annual relief goods programme as per its schedule, Dr Siddiqui, who is also Member of National Assembly, said that the relief goods distributed on Wednesday was not even 5 per cent of what MQM had been doing under its humanitarian services throughout the year.
He said that MQM did not believe in publicizing its humanitarian services merely of its faith that there shouldn’t be any exhibition of such welfare-oriented programmes. In fact, the purpose of organizing this program was to tell the philanthropists that whatever they had donated to the KKF was carrying out the gigantic its task of distributing relief goods among needy people judiciously and without any discrimination, irrespective of their cast, creed and religion.
Referring to deep relationship existing between needy people and Mr Hussain, the MQM leader said that Mr Hussain never used his welfare-oriented work to give boost to his political activities. In fact, the MQM chief gave the politics its true sense of serving the ailing humanity, he remarked.
Speaking on the occasion, the MQM’s Coordination Committee Member and the KKF’s Chief Trustee, Mustafa Kamal, humanitarian service was the top priority of MQM and its chief Altaf Hussain.
He said that the MQM’s welfare-oriented programmes continues throughout the year whether it remain in government or in opposition. The KKF which is MQM’s welfare organization had a history of serving the ailing humanity under the dynamic leadership of Mr Hussain.
The KKF’s chief and a former Senator, Ahmed Ali, said that the KKF which was established by Altaf Hussain 30 years ago has been serving the needy people each year in big way and would continue to do so in future, as well.
Earlier, he on behalf of Altaf Hussain, paid tributes to office-bearers, workers and volunteers for organizing a highly successful relief goods distribution programme.
