KARACHI: Mutahidda Qaumi Movement (MQM) has demanded of the Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) to take notice of abuse of power by Sindh Government and high handedness of the Sindh Police.
The Coordination Committee of MQM in a press statement here yesterday condemned the cordoning of a public meeting by MQM at Sapna Lawn, Larkana where policemen misbehaved with the organizers, snatched mobile phones from them and caused harassment to the party workers, supporters and voters.
Sindh government is wary of MQM’s better showing in the local bodies elections and fear losing seats substantially in elections for Hyderabad division, CC said adding that local bodies are ‘nurseries ‘ for democracy and use of police force , government resources in these elections would be against democratic norms.
The ECP must take notice of police excesses and use of resources by Sindh government and take action against them, demanded CC of MQM.
