A four-member delegation of MQM called on the former chief minister of Sindh Arbab Ghulam Rahim at his house in Karachi. The MQM delegation consisted members of the Co-ordination Committee Muhammad Hussain, Shabbir Qaim Khani, CEC In-charge Wasim Akhter, and the resigned MNA Kanwer Naveed Jamil.
Adjustment of seats in the coming local government elections, a solution of public issues and forging unity among the people of Sindh came under discussion in the meeting.
There was unanimity on devolving power to the grassroots level and adjustment of seats. It was decided that local office-bearers from both sides will hold a meeting for arriving at the adjustment of seats and finalizing it.
The MQM delegation apprised Mr Rahim about the problems being faced by ordinary people in the absence of a functioning local government system. They said that holding of the local government elections was good as it would help in solving public issues at their doorstep.
