MQM is being victimized and targeted during the Karachi Operation
Condemning the unwarranted and illegal raids and arrests of MQM workers in strong words, the Co-ordination Committee has said that MQM is constantly being targeted during the ongoing operation in Karachi.
In a statement, the MQM Co-ordination Committee said that a vicious conspiracy is being hatched to push the MQM to the wall as had been done in the past.
“Forty MQM workers have been killed extra-judicially, thousands have been arrested, and dozens have fallen victim of enforced disappearances since the start of the operation in 2013.”
“Police and Rangers have arrested several MQM workers during the past two days and shifted them to unknown places.”
“Plainclothes personnel carried out an illegal raid at the house of Mirza Arsalan Baig, a worker of Unit 96 of Malir Sector, and arrested him.”
“Shahnawaz S/O Ghayasuddin, a worker of Unit UC – 4, Mahmoodabad Sector has been arrested from his home.”
“Ali Lodhi and Arif Hussain, workers of Unit 67 – C, Gulshan-i-Iqbal Sector have been arrested from their homes.”
“Muhammad Ali Akbar, a worker of Unit 173 North Nazimabad Sector, was arrested after a raid on his home.”
“Wasim Qamar Ali, a worker of Unit 74 Korangi Sector and Faisal Nadeem, a worker of Unit 73 – A of the same sector, were picked up by Rangers from their homes.”
“Plainclothes personnel raided the homes of Irshad Bukhari, a worker of Unit 123 Orangi Sector and Abdul Hameed, worker of Unit 118 of the same sector and arrested them.”
“Shahood Ansari of Unit 105 Shah Faisal Sector and Shakeel of Unit 157 PIB Sector have also been arrested from their homes.”
The Co-ordination Committee said that the arrested MQM workers are being subjected to worst kind of torture in custody that has imperilled their lives.
The Co-ordination Committee appealed to President Mamnoon Hussain, PM Nawaz Sharif and COAS General Raheel Sharif to take notice of victimization of MQM workers during the operation. It called for releasing the arrested workers immediately.
