PM Nawaz Sharif did not value the mediation of Maulana Fazlur Rehman
Emergency meeting of Co-ordination Committee held to deliberate on MQM resignations and mediation of Maulana Fazlur Rehman
Karachi: 21 August 2015.
A joint and emergency meeting of the MQM Co-ordination Committee was held to deliberate on the issue of resignations by MQM members from Parliament, mediation being done by Maulana Fazlur Rehman and the attitude of the federal government. The meeting was also attended by members of different wings and department of the MQM.
Important decisions were taken in the meeting about the resignations of MQM members, dialogues being held with the government, and the struggle for a separate province.
The meeting strongly condemned the threatening attitude of Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif in a meeting at the Governor House on 20 August 2015.
“Highly trustworthy mediator Maulana Fazlur Rehman had arrived at MQM headquarter Nine Zero in Azizabad three days ago. It was decided in his meeting with the Co-ordination Committee that further negotiations will be held in Islamabad.”
“The Prime Minister cared little for the mediatory efforts being made by Maulana Fazlur Rehman and adopted an ominous attitude. He did not even bother to comfort the thousands of grieving families in Karachi for healing their wounds.”
“As the Prime Minister has rubbed salt into the wounds of the people of Karachi, we would request Maulana Fazlur Rehman not to worry anymore about mediating between the government and the MQM.”
The meeting said that the MQM members have submitted their resignations as a mark of protest and the government will have to accept their resignations at all cost. “All MQM members should be considered to have resigned from all three houses after this press release.”
It was also decided in the meeting that after pulling out of parliamentary politics, the MQM will focus on welfare activities and creation of a new province.
The meetings also condemned Chief Minister Sindh Syed Qaim Ali Shah. “The CM got carried away in emotions and said that he was the captain of the operation and there was no need for any other three-member monitoring committee.”
It was said in the meeting that people have taken serious notice of the fact that he came to Karachi but did not care to visit Rasheed Godial in hospital.
