Muttahida Qaumi Movement chief Altaf Hussain on Tuesday paid glowing tributes to President Asif Ali Zardari and all political and religious parties for achieving a landmark in getting conducted the presidential elections in a peaceful and a democratic environment.
According to a statement, the MQM chief said that “the credit for holding the general elections and the Tuesday’s presidential election as per the constitution and law for the transfer of power goes to different personalities, national institutions, particular the President Asif Ali Zardari.”
Eulogizing the services of President Zardari, the Muttahida chief said that the president despite difficulties not only completed his five-year term in a democratic manner, but also got completed the process of transfer of power during his tenure, thereby proving that he was the first democratic president in the country’s history.
Elaborating, he said that Mr Zardari during his five-year term of office while following democratic approach transferred his powers to the parliament, never indulged in political victimization of anybody and always demonstrated patience.
Mr Hussain hoped that the newly-elected President Mamnoon Hussain and Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif would take positive and effective measures to further strengthen the country and democracy.
