Address at the Annual Assistance Programme of KKF
MQM Founder and Leader Altaf Hussain has said those who are making allegations allegation against the MQM should answer the question as to how they would react if their women are maltreated and their sons and brothers are killed extrajudicially. He asked if they would garland those who are doing such a thing.
He was speaking at the annual assistance programme of the Khidmat-e-Khalq Foundation held in Jinnah Ground today.
Mr Hussain said that he is the only political leader of the country who is unembellished by charges of corruption. “I supported Asif Zardari when even the PPP leaders had abandoned him but he deceived me.”
“Army has ruled the country since 1947. Democratic governments also need the support of the army. MQM also joined hands with General Pervez Musharraf and remained with for eight years. When we got a chance to serve the people, we changed Karachi and Hyderabad beyond recognition.”
“MQM organises its annual assistance programme for the needy people each year. This year Muslim soldiers of Pakistan Army DG Rangers Bilal Akbar and Corps Commander Naveed Mukhtar decided that they would not allow the KKF to collect Zakat and Fitra in order to stop the MQM from holding its annual programme. They did this with the tacit backing of PM Nawaz Sharif, Captain of the Karachi Operation Syed Qaim Ali Shah and PPP Co-chairperson Asif Ali Zardari.”
“The DG Rangers issued an edict that unit and sector in-charges of the MQM will be arrested. When I took the names of officials involved in illegal and unconstitutional steps, it was said that Altaf Hussain is maligning army officers.”
“Army officers thrown out an elected prime minister but they get affronted when someone names those involved in illegal and unconstitutional actions.”
Addressing anchor persons Mr Hussain said, “You allege that the police officers who had killed terrorists in 1992 were killed one after another. Those who are making this allegation should first prove that the people killed by those police officials were terrorists.”
“I know many of the people personally who were killed by those police officers. They were educated and cultured people who had not harmed anyone all their lives. They were arrested and killed extrajudicially.”
“I have never asked anyone to kill a police officer. I have always preached forgiveness but who is to blame if someone decided to avenge the death of his brother.”
Mr Hussain said that Rangers had declared war against five crore Mohajirs. “We will face every act of injustice with determination but we will not surrender before tyrants. We will seek retribution under Qisas and Diyat for all innocent deaths from killers and those anchor persons and analysts who support them.”
“When Nawaz Sharif was deposed from office, he used foul language against the armed forces. Benazir Bhutto did the same and Asif Zardari openly warned the army that he would pull down everything and the generals cowered.”
He asked the participants of the programme, “Rangers raided Nine Zero but did they carried out a raid on the headquarters of Asif Ali Zardari, Mian Nawaz Sharif, Awami National Party, Lashkar-e-Jhangvi or Sipah-e-Sahaba.”
Addressing PTI leaders, Mr Hussain said, “Time does not remain same always. You may spit venom against the MQM but you will also be held accountable one day.”
He said, “Topmost people in the army had told me that they are working for removing misunderstandings between the MQM and the army. If those generals are true to their promise, they should give a message to the present generals to end the injustices against the MQM.”
“The vested interests has brought Pakistan to the brink of a disaster. If these vested interests remained, it would be difficult for Pakistan to survive.”
“The Supreme Court had observed in the Karachi Lawlessness case that political parties and groups had formed militant wings. MQM, ANP, PPP, JI, ST, SSP, and several other groups were named by the Supreme Court but only MQM was singled out and targeted.”
“When the Rangers entered Lyari, they were fired upon but they did not face any resistance in MQM areas. No one took the law in his hands because I have taught people peace and tolerance to people.”
“I am leading the party today but what will happen if someone gets the leadership after me?”
Mr Hussain praised the Co-ordination Committee, MNAs, MPAs and workers and office-bearers of various wings and departments of the party for continuing the work in the face of trials and tribulations.
He appealed to workers of MQM overseas units to contribute generously to the party fund.
