MQM condemns continuing arrests of its workers in Karachi

Banned outfits are openly collecting Zakat and Fitra, but MQM workers are being hunted down and implicated in fabricated cases
MQM Co-ordination Committee has condemned the arrests of innocent party workers by Rangers in different parts of the city. It said that the arrests of workers was a vicious attempt to stop the welfare activities of Khidmat-e-Khalq Foundation of MQM by force.
In a statement, the Co-ordination Committee said that the Rangers has arrested three MQM workers Qadir, Danish and Muhammad Naeem of Unit 166 in Baldia Town from their homes. Rangers’ personnel misbehaved with women during the raid and pushed them.
Rangers arrested Muhammad Ali, a worker of Unit 33 – A of Scheme 33, was also arrested from his home. Information has been obtained about raids and arrests and Bhangoria Goth area of Azizabad.
Condemning the arrests of the MQM workers, the Co-ordination Committee said that even band outfits were openly collecting Zakat and Fitra in Karachi and other cities. Rangers did not take any action against these banned outfits, but the MQM workers are being hunted down and implicated in fabricated cases.
The Co-ordination Committee said it was evident that efforts are being made to crush the MQM and to choke resources for its charitable organ KKF.
The Co-ordination Committee said that a popular party like MQM could not be finished by such strong-arm tactics. It appealed to human rights organizations to take notice of the arrests of MQM workers in Karachi and violation of their human rights.
