MQM shows concerns over workers’ custodial disappearances
 Posted on: 6/2/2015 1
In-Charge of Disappeared Persons Committee of Muttahida Quami Movement Babar Anis and his Committee members appealed to the Chief of government’s Commission on Disappeared Persons Justice (retd) Javed Iqbal and member for Sindh Justice (retd) Dr Ghous Muhammad to stop illegal arrests and forced disappearances of members of Urdu-speaking community.
In a statement, the In-Charge said that for last few months more than 50 Urdu-speaking youths were illegally arrested and disappeared some unknown places. He said that the LEAs personnel categorically denied the custody of disappeared people, especially MQM workers in the Apex Courts.
Mr. Anis expressed his grave concerns over paying no heeds to such a crucial issue by the provincial office of the government’s founded Inquiry Commission. He appealed to the Commission to call an immediate meeting to console the aggrieved families and also had to actively participate to recover the unfortunate disappeared persons.
