Muttahida Qaumi Movement chief Altaf Hussain on Saturday demanded of the government to take serious notice of the militants attack on Quaid-e-Azam residency in Ziarat, resting place of Pakistan's founding father Muhammad Ali Jinnah, with rocket attacks and give exemplary punishment to the culprits involved in the incident.
In a statement issued on Friday, the MQM chief condemned the incident, saying that the unfortunate incident amounted to an attack on Pakistan’s history and its culture.
“It was matter of great sorrow that the entire building of Quaid-e-Azam Residency which was one of the few historic and cultural heritages, belonging to the Founder of the Nation, was gutted in the blaze that erupted following militants’ rocket attack on it,” he deplored.
He said that it was an irony that such a historic and cultural heritage was destroyed although the civilized nations not only preserve their ancient historical and cultural assets but they also make their all-out efforts to protect them even during wars.
Describing the incident a national loss and tragedy, Mr Hussain said that it seemed that the writ of the government in Balochistan was diminishing.
