People are demanding that a new province should be made in Sindh along the 26th parallel line: Altaf Hussain

At least 20 provinces should be made in Pakistan to run the administrative affairs efficiently
MQM Founder and Leader Altaf Hussain has said that it was not he who was demanding the Karachi province. It was the demand of the people living in the urban areas of Sindh. The new province would not belong to Mohajirs alone. It would belong to all Punjabis, Pakhtuns, Balochis, Seraikis, Kashmiris, Hazarewal, and other ethnicities living in the urban areas of Sindh.
Mr Hussain said that new provinces have been made in different countries of the world in view of the increase in population. Hence, it was a time in Pakistan to create at least 20 provinces for efficient administration and devolving power to the grassroots.
Mr Hussain expressed these views while addressing a mammoth gathering that had come to celebrate MQM’s victory in the Cantonment Board elections.
Mr Hussain said that the chief minister had rejected the demand for Karachi province by saying that it cannot be accepted under any condition. “I would like to make it clear that the demand for Karachi province was not made by him. It was put forward by the people in the gathering.”
Mr Hussain asked the people if they wanted a province on which they replied in unison that they wanted a province of their own.
Mr Hussain said that the people were demanding the carving of a new province in Sindh along the 26th parallel line.
“New provinces should be created in Punjab as well. Bahawalpur, Multan, Seraiki belt and the Potwar region should be made separate provinces. In the same manner, a Southern Pushtunkhwa province should be made in Balochistan.”
Mr Hussain proposed that a Hazara province should be made in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa while the Federal Administered Tribal Areas should also be consolidated into a new province.
He also demanded that Gilgit-Baltistan should also be given the status of a full-fledged province.
“If new provinces are formed, power would be devolved to grassroots and literacy rate will improve.”
Mr Hussain said that the literacy rate in many states in India was around 100 per cent but it was very low in our country.
Mr Hussain said that the evil desire to eliminate the MQM should be purged out of minds now. “We are the descendent of the people who had created Pakistan. If any attempt is made to crush them or to throw them in the sea, everything would sink in the sea along with them.”
“Rangers claimed to have recovered the NATO weapons during the raid at Nine Zero but no one sees the weapon being wielded by PML (N) and PTI.”
Mr Hussain said that a death row convict is not allowed to meet anyone after seeing his family member for the last time. He is kept in the death cell till he is hanged but the establishment trampled out of their enmity towards the MQM. They recorded an interview of a death row prisoner in which false and baseless allegations were hurled on the MQM. This video recording was leaked to all news channels. Those who have done this should be proceeded against under Article 6 of the Constitution.
Mr Hussain said prejudiced elements say that the graph of the MQM has declined and the MQM has received less number of votes as compared to 2013. “Why do these elements fail to take notice of media reports which clearly say that Rangers deliberately slowed down the voting process? They harassed voters on the pretext of checking their ID cards. These reports have been published in all national newspapers and broadcast on electronic media. There are innumerable proofs of such delay-tactics adopted by the Rangers.”
Mr Hussain condemned the murder of prominent social worker Sabeen Mahmud and said that her only crime was that she had raised voice for the oppressed people.
Mr Hussain paid glowing tributes to the people for making the MQM successful in the by-election for NA– 246 and the Cantonment Board elections despite all oppression, raids, arrests and difficult circumstances.
Mr Hussain urged on the political workers across the country, particularly in Punjab, to get rid of fake parties and get united under the banner of the MQM.
