The government values the patience and determination of the MQM in spite of being made a target of terrorism
Caretaker Interior Minister Malik Habib has said that the government valued the patience, courage and determination shown by Muttahida Quami Movement in spite of terrorism and violence. He said this while talking to the MQM Founder and Leader Mr Altaf Hussain on the telephone on Saturday night.
Mr Habib condemned the bomb blasts at the election offices of the MQM and incidents of targeted killings. He expressed grief and sorrow on the killings of the MQM workers in these terrorist incidents. He said that the caretaker government was making every effort to hold peaceful elections for transferring power to the election representatives. He said that the cooperation extended by the MQM in these efforts was praiseworthy. He said that transfer of power in present circumstances would be a big achievement.
Mr Habib said that he would reach Karachi to review the situation so that the presence of law-enforcing agencies could not only be seen but actually felt in combating terrorism. He extended sympathies on behalf of the federal government on the killings of the MQM workers in the bomb blasts in Karachi.
Mr Hussain thanked Mr Habib and said that the terrorists were making liberal and progressive parties a target of their terrorism. We are undaunted by bomb blasts and terrorism, and we are with the armed forces and the government in eliminating the scourge of terrorism. Both the leaders also discussed the overall political situation of the country.
