How can peaceful elections be held in the presence of terrorism?
Asks the Co-ordination Committee to close all MQM election offices for the time being

The Founder and Leader of Muttahida Quami Movement (MQM) Altaf Hussain has deplored the attack on an MQM election office at Peoples Chowrangi near café Payala in Karachi. He expressed his deep sense of grief and sorrow on the killing and injuring of several MQM workers in the terrorist attack.
Drawing the attention of the Chief Election Commissioner Fakhruddin G Ebrahim on the continuous killings of the MQM workers and terrorists’ attacks, Mr Hussain said it was the duty of the election commission and the caretaker government to maintain peace and order. He regretted that over 25 MQM workers and office-bearers, including an election candidate, had fallen victim of unending wave of terrorism.
Mr Hussain asked the election commission and the caretaker government how it would be possible to hold peaceful elections in the presence of unceasing terrorism. He asked who would come out on the polling day to cast their vote if the present situation continued.
Mr Hussain said that every political and religious party should condemn the attack on the election office of the MQM. He said that no effective measures were taken in spite of clear threats given by terrorist elements to the MQM, the ANP and the PPP in order to keep them away from the election process.
Mr Hussain directed the Co-ordination Committee to close all election offices of the MQM, for the time being, in view of threats for further attack. He asked the committee to send the details about the incident to the election commission in writing.
Mr Hussain sympathized with the grieving families of the workers who lost their lives in the attack and asked the people to pray for the speedy recovery of the injured.
