MQM condemns demolition of marriage halls belonging to MQM people on the pretext of action against encroachments

The Co-ordination Committee of Muttahida Quami Movement (MQM) has condemned the demolition of marriage halls of MQM office-bearers and workers on the pretext of an anti-encroachment drive under provincial minister for local government Sharjeel Memon.  
The Co-ordination Committee said that Mr Memon was victimizing people associated with the MQM by demolishing marriage halls that were started over 25 to 30 years ago by fulfilling all legal requirements and the rent was being regularly paid to the KMC.
The Co-ordination Committee said that there are a number of marriage halls in the city. Some of them are being run various organizations, but only those marriage halls were being demolished that had anything to do with someone in the MQM. Even marriage halls established on private properties were being demolished which make it evident that entire exercise was partial and discriminatory. 
The Co-ordination Committee said that Florence Garden belonging to Senator Babar Ghouri was demolished today on the instructions of Mr Memon. The land for this hall was obtained 29 years ago by fulfilling legal requirements and the rent was being paid to the KMC regularly. 
The Co-ordination Committee said that there are many illegal settlements in Karachi which have become a den of crime, drug peddling and illegal arms. Regrettably Mr Memon could not see all this and was victimizing MQM workers and office-bearers by demolishing their halls.
The Co-ordination Committee said that people were well aware as who allowed a mushroom growth of signboards by taking huge bribes.
The Co-ordination Committee demanded to stop victimization of people on the pretext of action against encroachments.
