Rangers is removing security barriers from peaceful areas in Karachi on the pretext of Supreme Court orders

Rangers is removing security barriers from peaceful areas in Karachi on the pretext of Supreme Court orders
 Posted on: 4/17/2013
The Founder and Leader of Muttahida Quami Movement (MQM) Mr Altaf Hussain has said that Rangers were removing barriers from peaceful areas of Karachi on the pretext of the order passed by the Supreme Court for removing no-go areas in the city. He said that these barriers were installed with the permission of residents of the area in view of incidents of street crimes and robberies. With the removal of these barriers incidents of snatching of mobile phones and jewellery from women had sharply increased. He said this while talking to the members of the Co-ordination Committee at Khursheed Begum Secretariat in Azizabad.
Mr Hussain urged the caretaker government to form a committee consisting of representatives from police, Rangers, and other law-enforcing agencies for issuing permits to the residents for installing security barriers in their areas. He demanded Governor Sindh Dr Ishratul Ebad and caretaker Chief Minister Justice (retired) Zahid Qurban Alvi to take measures for freeing people from the atmosphere of fear by allowing them to install barriers.
