Interior Minister Malik Habib phones Altaf Hussain to condole killings of MQM workers
 Posted on: 4/12/2013
Federal caretaker Interior Minister Malik Habib on Friday assured the Muttahida Quami Movement chief Altaf Hussain that he would investigate into the complaints of the MQM regarding the killings and arrest of its workers and sympathizers.
The Interior Minister who made a telephonic contact with the MQM chief to express his grief and sorrow over the brutal killings of MQM’s PS-47 candidate in Hyderabad, Fakhrul Islam and other workers in Karachi, also assured the latter that he would himself visit Karachi to supervise the probe into the MQM complaints so that all political parties, including MQM, could participate in the coming general elections without any victimization.
The MQM chief during his telephonic conversation apprised the caretaker Interior Minister about the assassination of MQM’s provincial Assembly candidate in Hyderabad, Fakhrul Islam, Literature Committee’s member Shiraz Azfar and other workers in Karachi.
Expressing his serious reservation over the arrest of MQM workers and sympathizers in raids by cordoning off different peaceful localities, Mr Hussain said that such a situation was sabotaging MQM’s election campaign.
The caretaker Interior Minister assured Mr Hussain that he would investigate into the complaints of MQM and he himself would visit Karachi to monitor the situation so that appropriate measures aimed at creating level-playing field for all political parties, including that of MQM, for their participation in the polls without any victimization were taken.
