Muttahida Qaumi Movement’s Coordination Committee’s Deputy Convener, Senator Mrs Nasreen Jalil, said here on Thursday that MQM chief Altaf Hussain was determined for the empowerment of women as well as for restoration of their rights.
She was speaking at a corner meeting held in connection with MQM 29th Founding Day to be held here on March 18. Haq Parast MPAs Heer Sohu, Naheed Begum, members of Sindh Organising Committee Ms Ayesha Aftab, Ms Rana Ansar, Ms Abida Saif, Ms Zahida Begum and Mirpurkhas Women Wing’s In-charge Ishrat Begum and other members were present on the occasion.
Reiterating that no society could be accomplished without women, Ms Jalil said that the rights of the country’s women were being usurped and they were not being allowed to lead a honourable life mainly owing to prevailing obsolete feudal system as well as due to uncalled for and unjust traditions such as `Karokari’ and `Wani’.
Lauding the MQM chief Altaf Hussain’s struggle for the protection and empowerment of women, she said that tabling of bills for the restoration of women’s rights and their protection in the elected houses of the country by Haq Parast representatives was a clear proof of MQM chief’s relentless efforts in this regard.
On this occasion, Senator Jalil urged women to continue to strive for their rights and invited them to participate in a large number in the MQM Founding Day central public meeting to be held at the Gama stadium of Mirpurk on March 18.
Earlier, Haq Parast MPAs Shaikh Mohammad Afzal and Fahim Ahmed Altafi, addressed a meeting of elders held at Mirpurkhas Sector-3. Participants of the meeting expressed their joy over the convening of MQM Founding Day’s central public meeting in Mirpurkhas.
The Haq Parast MPAs on this occasion said that Mr Altaf Hussain had always asked them to respect their elders, taking benefits of their experience and expertise.
They appealed to elders to make the forthcoming MQM Founding Day public meeting a great success by participating in it in a large number.
