Haq Parast MNA Shaikh Salahuddin and other members of the National Assembly on Tuesday tabled Federal Capital Local Government Bill-2013 in the lower house of the parliament, seeking setting up of local government institutions, comprising elected representatives, for Islamabad.
It may be pointed out that Islamabad’s population had exceeded one million people and the Capital Development Authority (CDA) had miserably failed to help solve local issues.
Pointing out the under Article 32 of the Constitution it was obligatory upon the state to set up local governments, the Haq Parast MNAs said that they would get this bill approved by the incumbent Assembly so that the credit of transferring powers at grass-root level and to strengthen the nursery of democracy could go to this historic democratic government.
