We are thankful to you for coming to attend this Press Conference on our invitation.
You know that the MQM is the only political party in Pakistan that does not take recourse to tall claims, misleading slogans and fake promises for the rights of the people belonging to poor and middle classes. The MQM believes in making practical efforts and it has been making practical efforts for their rights since the very beginning. It has been sending them in national and provincial assemblies, senate and local government institutions purely on merit by setting aside the prejudices of nationality, ethnicity, community, sect and religion. Common people could not even think about reaching these elected houses before the arrival of the MQM.
The obsolete political system running in the country has given rise to a culture of political dynasties. This dynastic system has permeated in all political parties to the extent that major political parties in the country have become family properties. It is because of this system that the family members of a handful of families have always been ruling the country. In contrast to this culture, Mr Altaf Hussain is the only political leader of the country who has never contested any election for the national assembly, the provincial assembly or the senate. He has set an example by keeping his family members away from elections in order to uproot the current political culture that favours the scions of political dynasties.
The MQM laid the foundation of a revolution, as far as the province of Sindh is concerned, many years ago by introducing genuine public leadership belonging to the poor and middle classes. This revolution has not been confined to Sindh as the revolutionary message of the MQM under the leadership of the MQM is attracting people in other parts of the country as well and MQM candidates have been elected in the legislative assemblies of Azad Jammu & Kashmir and Gilgit-Baltistan as well. The MQM will nominate educated people from the Punjab, Balochistan, and Khyber Pakhtunkhwa having a strong desire to the serve the people in the upcoming general elections of 2013. The MQM would give a pleasant surprise to the 98 percent people of the country besides protecting their rights.
It is also in your knowledge that political and religious parties of the country sell party tickets at the time of general elections and sell their tickets in exchange of millions of rupees. They demand a large sum of money even with the application form which effectively excludes ordinary Pakistanis from the election process. These political parties give tickets to such candidates who do not even go to the people after winning elections let alone serving them.
There is no political party in the country besides MQM that encourages educated and capable people. It is because of this that people across the country look upon the MQM as the strong proponent of the rights of the people belonging to the poor and middle classes.
We are announcing the release of the “Application Form” for the general elections of 2013. Aspiring candidates can obtained this form from the Central Election Cell of the MQM at Nine Zero and the zone and district level offices of the MQM. This form can also be downloaded from the official website of the MQM at www.mqm.org
. This form is a trust of the people and it is totally free for everyone who has a desire to represent the people.
We appeal to the educated, capable and meritorious people of the poor and middle classes to obtain this form from MQM offices and submit it for bringing a positive change in the country. The parliamentary board of the MQM would select the potential candidates after holding scrutiny of all the forms received purely on merit.
We are very happy on releasing this application form for the general elections of 2013. We are grateful to Almighty Allah for giving has the opportunity to introduce the leadership from poor-and-middle class in the elected houses and for serving the people in the true sense of the word. We also pray for the well-being and long life of our leader Mr Altaf Hussain.
We thank you once again for coming to attend this press conference.
