The founder and leader of Muttahida Quami Movement Mr. Altaf Hussain urged the political and military leadership to take bold decisions to end the sectarianism and religious hatred in context with national and international perception.
In a statement issued from London Secretariat, MQM Chief felicitated members Senate, MNAs and all the political parties’ leadership for passing the 21st Amendment Bill to form army courts against the terrorists. He also prayed almighty Allah for the success of the cause for that the bill was passed.
Mr. Hussain said that he wanted to submit some proposals to review in context with national and international perception, including South and Central Asian regions to federal government, military leadership, writers, anchor persons, reporters, analysts, national and international political experts, as under:
1- On January 2015 at Liberty Chowk in Lahore, some people gathered to organize candle light vigil and pay tribute to the former governor Punjab Salman Taseer Shaheed on his 4th death anniversary, but suddenly some armed men appeared on the spot and attacked the gathering by batons, iron rods, stones and other weapons. The attackers brutally wounded all the participants. They also attacked media persons who were there to cover the event. It is government’s responsibility to comprehend those armed attackers and present them in media with their complete biographies but no legal action is yet to be taken. To arrest the culprits, the security agencies can utilize CCTV cameras and media footages to identify them and should bring them before the court of law for justice.
2- There are two FIRs were registered against Maulana Abdul Aziz, the cleric of Lal Masjid in Islamabad, he not only moves freely around but also makes religiously hatred speeches among the people. It is a government’s responsibility to immediately arrest Maulana Abdul Aziz.
3- Some doubts are raised against the government in international level after the most controversial person Zaki-ur-Rehman Lakhvi’s bail by the court, so the government should take notice and devise appropriate measures to comprehend and prosecute the criminals.
4- The banned outfits involved in religious hatred, sectarian riots and killings, were banned previously but now they do their businesses with new names, organize processions and take out rallies all over the country and their leadership make hatred speeches in public gatherings. They should be banned with true spirit and should not be allowed to preach their hatred literature and thoughts and their leaders should be restricted to make any public speech.
Mr. Altaf Hussain urged the government and military leadership to take the boldest decision with courage and perseverance for the vested interests of the country and should stop taking decisions on liking and disliking bases. He further added that the government would be targeted by the terrorists for being quite against them or being sterile against them, but it could not survive with the terrorism and it had to end any way. He said that it was time to show the unity and display courage to strengthen the country. He said we should not forget that the angles will not descend to protect Pakistan but we have to devise action plans to proceed forward.
