The Founder and Leader of Muttahida Quami Movement (MQM) Mr Altaf Hussain has strongly condemned the killing of the Geo News correspondent Malik Mumtaz in Miran Shah, North Waziristan. He said that the brutal killing of Malik Mumtaz was an attack on the freedom of the press in the country.
Mr Hussain said that the killings of journalists were bringing a bad name to the country throughout the world. He said that it was a cause of great concern as the general elections were also approaching near.
He sympathized with the bereaved family members of the slain journalists and offered condolences to the journalists’ community. He appealed to President Asif Zardari, Prime Minister Raja Pervaiz Ashraf and Interior Minister Rehman Malik to take serious notice of the killing of Malik Mumtaz in Miran Shah.
Mr Hussain also called for taking steps to protect the journalists in the country.
