Nation eyes set on Army Chief after Peshawar tragedy: Altaf Hussain

 Posted on: 12/18/2014
The founder and leader of Muttahida Quami Movement (MQM), Mr. Altaf Hussain said that the entire nation had posted its hope on the armed forces and was looking at Chief of Army Staff (COAS), General Raheel Sharif to protect people’s lives and properties by eliminating terrorism from the country.
In an interview regarding the Peshawar incident, MQM Chief strongly condemned the brutal killings of innocent students and teachers of Army Public School in Peshawar. He also extended his sympathy and condolence to the bereaved families of the victims and solaced them ensuring that the nation stood by them at the time of grief.
Mr. Hussain said that prior to that incident, GHQ, police, FC check posts, Navy, Air Force and other sensitive national assets were also attacked by the terrorists. He said that the terrorists killed thousands of people including security personnel but no precedence was set prior to the ‘Zarb-e-Azb’ to eliminate terrorism from the country by COAS General Raheel Sharif.
He said that the present government morally and financially supported the religious extremists and fundamentalists and did not even accuse or mention the name of Taliban for spreading the terrorism. He said that the last night APC on terrorism was just a political tactic to defuse the public pressure rather sorting out some genuine resolution of the issue.
Mr. Hussain said that the Army Chief General Raheel Sharif and ISI Chief Lt-Gen Rizwan Akhtar had to take some solid measures to root out the terrorism from the country. He suggested ISI Chief to start a probe against the information that some of the internal elements were involved in the attack on army personnel and assets.
He strongly condemned the brutal killing of MQM Vice-President of District Chiniot Asghar Abbas Jafri on Wednesday. Earlier, MQM MNA Tahira Asif and Vice-President of District Sialkot Bao Muhammad Anwar were also killed by the terrorists, while the Punjab government kept suspiciously silent over the killings of MQM workers and office-bearers.
MQM Chief appealed to the Army Chief and ISI Chief to immediately arrest the murderers of MQM workers and office-bearers. He said that the people in the current government supported Lashkar-e-Jhangvi, Sipah Sahaba, Taliban and ISIS to let them strengthen in the country.
He said that PTI Chairman Imran Khan compromised for his vested interest with the government and left his supporters alone and went to his Bani Gala palace. He said that Imran claimed to be a liberal but never condemned Taliban openly at any forum.
Mr. Hussain said that he wanted to see Pakistan free from corruption and terrorism and should be a country for the people of all the sects, religions and minorities. He said that every Pakistani had right to live with peace, while the government was responsible to protect people’s lives and properties.
He said, “Being Muslims, we believe in Allah, Prophet and Quran, so we should establish sectarian harmony among us and should respect each other.” He prayed Almighty Allah to create love and unity among the various sects and creeds.
