Asgher Abbas, third MQM leader shot dead in cold blood in Punjab since June 2014

Asgher Abbas, third MQM leader shot dead in cold blood in Punjab since June 2014
 Posted on: 12/17/2014
On 17th December 2014, at 9:30 PM (Pakistan Standard Time) and 4:30 P M (British Standard Time) Mr Asgher Abbas, Senior Vice President of Muttahida Quami Movement (MQM) of the District of Chiniot, Punjab was premeditatedly gunned down by terrorists belonging to Tehrik-e-Taliban-e-Pakistan (TTP), Lashkar-e-Jhangvi (LeJ), Sipah-e-Sahaba Pakistan (SSP) and their affiliated terrorist groups  riding on a motor bike in Rahim Gali, Chiniot while he was returning from Imam Bargah after offering prayer.
This cowardly and abhorrent murder had taken place in the presence of eye witnesses who said the attack was surgically carried out and Mr Asgher Abbas died on the spot as he was hit by several bullets from close range.
It is pertinent to note that Mrs. Tahira Asif, MQM Member of the National Assembly of Pakistan (MNA) was murdered in a broad day light in Moon Market Lahore, Punjab on 18th June 2014 while Mr Bao Anwar, Vice President of Muttahida Quami Movement (MQM) of the District of Sialkot, Punjab was brutally murdered in the early hours of 9th December 2014. Mr Asgher Abbas’s murder is the third since the month of June and the assailants belong to the same religious and fanatical TTP and its affiliates who killed 142 students, teacher and army man in an assault on Peshawar School, yesterday, 16th December 2014.
Mr Altaf Hussain severely condemned the mindless murder of Mr Asgher Abbas and said that such treacherous and cowardly act would neither deter MQM from spreading its political philosophy and ideology in Punjab nor would it scare off the people of Punjab from supporting MQM that is very speedily galvanising support. He demanded of the Prime Minister of Pakistan Mian Mohammad Nawaz Sharif, Federal Interior Minister Chaudhry Nisar Ali Khan, Governor of Punjab Chaudhry Mohammad Sarwar and the Chief Minister of Punjab Mian Shahbaz Sharif to take immediate and serious steps to arrest the perpetrators and give them exemplary punishment.
The MQM is a liberal, tolerant and progressive party. In a country where use and abuse of religion have become the norm of political life, it is firmly oppose to Taliban, IS and all form of fanaticism and extremism. It believes that government should be based on policy not religion and is committed to genuine democratic government, an independent judiciary and a free press.
