The founder and leader of MQM, Mr Altaf Hussain has congratulated Malala Yusufzai on having been awarded the Nobel Peace Prize today.
Mr Hussain said, ‘Like Malala, our party remains a lonely voice against religious extremism in Pakistan. Her award is a proud moment for our country, I extend my congratulations to her and her family.'
'MQM was the only political party in Pakistan to condemn the Taliban after their attack on Malala and it remains proud of her and the brave way in which she has stood up against the tyrannical Taliban.'
As he did with regard to the Taliban, MQM’s chief is the first and so far the only Pakistani statesman to raise concerns against the growing threat of IS in Pakistan, urging the Pakistani government to take notice of the menace.
A party whose policies are closely aligned with global values, MQM is first and foremost the party of equal rights and equal opportunity for all, including women and religious and ethnic minorities. Like Malala, it is firmly opposed to both the Taliban and all forms of fanaticism and extremism.
