Conversation with Maulana Tayyab Tahiri of Jamat-i-Isha’at-i-Tauheed-o-Sunnat Pakistan
The Founder and Leader of Muttahida Quami Movement (MQM) Mr Altaf Hussain telephoned the head of Jamat-i-Isha’at-i-Tauheed-o-Sunnat Pakistan Maulana Muhammad Tayyab Tahiri and inquired after his well-being. Talking to Maulana Tahiri, Mr Hussain said that Islam is the religion of peace. Islam gives the eternal message of peace for the followers of all religions. Referring to Sura Al-Fateha, Mr Hussain said, “Allah is the Owner of the Day of Judgment hence no one has the right to declare someone as worthy of being killed. The decisions of heaven and hell rest with Allah Almighty alone.”
Mr Hussain said that there were difference of opinions among the authentic Imams on some issues of the Sharia, but they never declared anyone as heretic or issued fatwa for their murder. They taught about showing dignity to the followers of each faith, and we should also follow their teachings.
Mr Hussain said that Pakistan came into being after immense sacrifices, and it should be our duty save it. We should find solutions of problems in the light of the teachings of the Holy Prophet (PBUH) and the Pious Caliphs after mutual discussion by exercising ijtihad and ijma in harmony with the requirements of the 21st century.
Mr Hussain said that he was feeling spiritual happiness in talking to Maulana Tahiri. He said that his own grandfather was the Mufti of the Agra city and his fatwas written by him are still present in the Jama Masjid Agra.
Mr Hussain assured Maulana Tahiri full co-operation for bringing peace in the country and for the promotion of the real spirit and teachings of the religion.
Maulana Tahiri said, “We believe in non-violence, and we have always preached about peace and security. We do not want to pick arms against anyone. We invite people to sit with us and see that we are not like other religious leaders.”
“We are working for the welfare of humanity and for promoting peace in Pakistan. If sincere political leaders like you hold consultations with religious scholars, it can be the source of peace and security not only for Pakistan but for the entire world.”
Maulana Tahiri said, “The blood of religious scholars is present in the foundations of Pakistan. We will continue to work with people like you for the cause of peace in Pakistan.”
In the end Maulana Tahiri prayed for the well-being of Mr Hussain.
