MQM wants to bring a positive change in the political system of the country: Altaf Hussain

MQM wants to bring the change through peaceful and democratic process
Address in Rawalpindi on the occasion of the announcement of the organizational setup of MQM Islamabad Upper Punjab
The Founder and Leader of Muttahida Quami Movement (MQM) Mr Altaf Hussain has said that the MQM wants to change the corrupt political culture and feudal system by peaceful and democratic means. He said that the MQM is pursuing its peaceful struggle for achieving this objective. “MQM wants to eliminate the medieval feudal system. We want to make Pakistan strong, stable and prosperous. I will not rest content until a system is established in Pakistan for holding the feudal lords and all other institutions in the country accountable before law.”
Mr Hussain said this while addressing a gathering of workers and office-bearers in Shalimar Hotel in Rawalpindi on the occasion of the announcement of the organizational structure of the MQM for Islamabad Upper Punjab.
Mr Hussain said that the MQM has been struggling to spread its message in the Punjab for the past 25 years. “A vitriolic propaganda was started against the MQM in the Punjab, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and Balochistan in order to create disaffection in the hearts and minds of people about the MQM whenever it tried to propagate its message in other parts of the country.”
Mr Hussain asserted that the MQM is the only political party in the country that genuinely represents the deprived, oppressed and downtrodden people of Pakistan that constitute over 98 percent of the total population. “We want to bring a real and perceptible change in Pakistan. The corrupt political culture, dynastic politics and medieval feudal system are root causes of the problems of Pakistan. This system protects the interests of the rich who are getting richer with each passing day. The poor is getting poorer and even their basic legitimate rights are not given.”
Mr Hussain said that the peaceful revolution in the country and the positive change would only be possible by breaking the status quo. “Those who protect the status quo cannot bring any positive change in Pakistan. The MQM is the only political party in the country that has the capacity to break the status quo. People of Pakistan must differentiate between real agents of change and slogan mongers.”
“The MQM is a peace-loving democratic political party but if the path of the 98 percent people belonging to the poor and middle classes is obstructed by use of force, we would not run away. We would give our lives and usher a peaceful revolution.”
“The MQM wants to establish a just and equitable system in the country where everyone enjoys equal rights without the discriminations of caste, colour, province, sex, religion, sect and beliefs.”
“The MQM is the only party that sent educated, capable and honest people in assemblies for the first time in the history of the country. When these people sat alongside the feudal lords in the assemblies, they started making faces as if the sky had fallen. I want to tell them that this is only the beginning. The real day of reckoning would be when these tyrant feudal lords would be held accountable before the public.”
Mr Hussain said that time is coming when politics of the country would no longer be the sole domain of a few families. “The end of the feudal system is near and with it the culture of political dynasty would also come to an end.”
“My 35-year struggle is not for personal gains or for the benefits of a few families. I am struggling for Pakistan and its disadvantaged people. I want to make Pakistan strong and prosperous. I may not be allowed to come to Pakistan but I will continue to work for the people of Pakistan.”
Addressing the people of Pakistan he said that their vote was invaluable. Vote is a big democratic power with which the people of Pakistan can change their fate and the fate of their coming generations. “People of Pakistan should wake up for saving Pakistan.”
“The MQM is making sincere efforts for the supremacy of the constitution and the rule of law. The MQM wants equal representations for women in every walk of life. Non-Muslim Pakistanis should be given status of equal citizens. If anyone calling anyone else infidel then they shall be punished and a law should be devised for that.”
“Agricultural income should also be brought under the tax net and the collection of taxes should be improved.”
Mr Hussain said that the MQM wants to transform Pakistan according to the dreams of Quaid-i-Azam Muhammad Ali Jinnah and Dr Muhammad Iqbal. He said that the MQM would give surprising results from all over the country in the upcoming general elections.
Members of the Co-ordination Committee, Central Executive Council, elected representatives, office-bearers of Rawalpindi and Islamabad zones of the MQM were present on the occasion.
