Conversation with prominent defence analyst and intellectual Major (retired) Amir
The Founder and Leader of Muttahida Quami Movement (MQM) Mr Altaf Hussain has said that the circumstances in the country and the fate of the people cannot change unless the corrupt political culture and feudal system are eliminated. He said this while talking to prominent defence analyst and intellectual Major (R) Amir on the telephone.
Mr Hussain said that the MQM wants to end the corrupt political culture. Whenever the MQM tried to widen its struggle throughout the country, its path was impeded by elements in the establishment who wanted to maintain the status quo and who had close links with the corrupt feudal lords. These elements tried to create the feud between Pakhtun-Mohajir, Sindhi-Mohajir, Punjabi-Mohajir, and Baloch-Mohajir in order to achieve their evil designs. These elements conspired and instigated violence and bloodshed in order to create disaffection in the public about the MQM.
Mr Hussain said that Pakistan had already dismembered, and hence we must strive to save the remaining Pakistan by weeding out the corrupt political culture from the country. He asked when the feudal elements can come together to protect their vested interests, why the people of the poor and middle classes cannot join hands and become one family.
Major (R) Amir agreed that the MQM was not allowed to spread its struggle in the country in order to perpetuate the corrupt political culture. He told Mr Hussain that the people of Pakistan are looking towards the MQM for a real change in the country, and hence it must spread its struggle across the length and breadth of the country. He said that all ethnic entities living in Karachi must strengthen the hands of the MQM for a durable peace. He assured that he would play his role for bringing peace in Karachi.
