The forces creating hurdles in the creation of the new provinces are harming national security and unity
The Founder and Leader of Muttahida Quami Movement (MQM) Mr Altaf Hussain has said that the southern Punjab province and the Bahawalpur province should be created before the upcoming general elections as the demands for these provinces reflect the aspirations of millions of people. He said this while talking to the members of the Co-ordination Committee at Khursheed Begum Secretariat on telephone.
Mr Hussain said that the demands for creating the new provinces of southern Punjab and Bahawalpur are the basic rights of the people. He said that those who are denying these rights and those who want to increase the deprivation of the public have no sympathy with the people of Bahawalpur, southern Punjab and the rest of the country. He said that the MQM strongly condemns all those who are opposing the creation of new provinces.
Mr Hussain assured the people of southern Punjab and Bahawalpur that the MQM would extend full support to them for their legitimate rights. He said that hundreds of thousands of the MQM workers would stand shoulder to shoulder with them in their peaceful struggle for their rights.
Mr Hussain said that the forces that were creating hurdles in the creation of new provinces were in fact harming the national security and unity. He demanded of President Asif Zardari and Prime Minister Raja Pervaiz Ashraf to give serious consideration to the public demand for creation of new provinces. He said that the long-standing demand of the people should be accepted for ending the deprivation and injustices of the people.
