The Co-ordination Committee of Muttahida Quami Movement (MQM) has expressed grave concerns on the withdrawal of cases in the Baldia Town tragedy and has strongly condemned it. The committee said that it was the worst tragedy in the history of the country as more than 250 people had burned to death. The committee called for independent investigations in order to fix responsibility and to provide justice to the affected people. The committee urged on President Asif Zardari, Prime Minister Raja Pervaiz Ashraf, Interior Minister Rehman Malik, and Chief Minister Sindh to ensure independent investigation of the tragedy so that the persons responsible for it could be brought to justice.
