National Counter Terrorism Policy should be made for eliminating terrorism from country: Dr Farooq Sattar
 Posted on: 1/19/2013
It has become evident that extremism and terrorism are the foremost challenges facing the country
Deputy Convener of the Co-ordination Committee of Muttahida Quami Movement (MQM) Dr Farooq Sattar has said that a national counter terrorism policy should be made as soon as possible as extremism and terrorism are the foremost challenges facing the country. He said that the counter terrorism policy is needed to ensure a durable peace in Pakistan by eliminating terrorism. He made this demand at the Soyem of the martyred MQM MPA Manzar Imam in Lal Qila Ground while talking to the journalists.
Dr Sattar said that no area in the country is safe from terrorism. It is the need of the hour that political parties and the people of Pakistan get united against terrorism by forgetting their differences. He said that it is necessary to build a national consensus in order to eradicate terrorism from Pakistan.
Dr Sattar said that holding elections in present circumstances when terrorism is on the rise has become a challenge. Praising MPA Manzar he said that his brutal killing was a blatant act of terrorism by the Taliban.
Dr Sattar said that the MQM has accepted the invitation to attend the conference proposed by the Awami National Party on the issue of terrorism.
He said that a neighbourhood watch system should be developed for keeping an eye on suspicious elements. He urged on President Asif Zardari and Prime Minister Raja Pervaiz Ashraf to take action against the elements involved in terrorism as no one in the country was safe. He said that the killers must be brought to justice.
