Ex-minister’s statement, MQM retaliates with facts, figures

Ex-minister’s statement, MQM retaliates with facts, figures
 Posted on: 11/27/2014
Member MQM Coordination Committee, Senator Baber Khan Ghauri said that PPP government kept making malice designs against the people of urban Sindh for the past several decades.
Addressing to a press conference at Khursheed Begum Secretariat, MQM Senator referred to a statement of former Sindh Education Minister Pir Mazhar-ul-Haq stating that he did not allow constructing a university in Hyderabad, because only MQM supporters could go there. He said that the statement reflected the acute racial and ethnic prejudices and discrimination of PPP or Sindh government.
He said that such discriminations maximized deprivation and frustrations among Mohajirs and it was evident that MQM protested against one-unit along with Sindhis. He said that former prime minister Raja Pervaiz Ashraf was to announce about Hyderabad University but he was also told not to announce.
Senator Ghauri termed former minister’s statement on yesterday’s newspaper as shameful and the thought not only reflected his prejudice but it was a collective phenomenon of PPP. He said that Sindh had been given 500 billion rupees per annum for development projects but people were being deprived of their rights while PFC was no more being observed.
Talking about the PPP’s discriminations, he said that only 2 out of 40 education secretaries belonged to urban Sindh. Similarly, members of Sindh Public Service Commission all belonged to rural Sindh. Only 1 out of 23 administrators belonged to urban Sindh, while the provincial government took charges of urban institutions like KBCA now turned to be SBCA, water board and others.
Meanwhile, MQM leader Haider Abbas Rizvi said that among 6 hundred thousand government jobs, urban Sindh should have been given 240000 jobs to Karachi, Hyderabad and Sukkur as per rule of the quota system, which was also a reverse-discrimination. He said that on the fake domiciles urban jobs were given to the rural people.
He said that Karachi was 5th biggest cities among the world and how unfortunate, it was that it had no chief executive for the past five years. He said that it was government’s responsibility to remove such expression that it did not want to deliver the rights of the people of urban Sindh.
