Kashmir dispute should be resolved according to the aspirations of the Kashmiri people: Altaf Hussain
 Posted on: 12/20/2012
We are confident that the Kashmir dispute would be resolved according to the wishes of the people of Kashmir
The Founder and Leader of Muttahida Quami Movement (MQM) Mr Altaf Hussain has said that the Kashmir dispute should be resolved according to the wishes and aspirations of the people of Kashmir. He said that the Kashmiri people should also be represented in all the dialogues for finding a solution of the Kashmir dispute. He said that the MQM would co-operate unconditionally with the Kashmiri people. He was talking to the Chairman of the All-Parties Hurriyat Conference Mirwaiz Umar Farooq during his visit to Nine Zero today.

Talking to Mr Farooq, he said that the people of Kashmir must get united for their rights. He said that unity and consensus leadership were the basic ingredients for the success of any movement when the opponent is powerful and has access to unlimited resources. “It is unfortunate that the power of the Kashmiri people is being divided. I would humbly request you to become one force, which would enable you to present the case of Kashmir at the international forums in a better way.”

Mr Hussain said, “If the MQM comes in power it would solve the Kashmir dispute according to the aspirations of the Kashmiri people. Whether they would want to live with Pakistan or as an independent country, it would be entire up to the Kashmiri people.”

Mr Hussain said that without including the Kashmiri all the dialogues for finding a solution, whether held in India or Pakistan, would be meaningless. He urged on the United Nations to ensure the participation of the Kashmiri people in all the dialogues for resolving the Kashmir dispute.

Speaking on the occasion, Mr Farooq thanked Mr Hussain for the warm welcome at Nine Zero. He said, “The purpose of our visit to Pakistan is to bridge the relations between the two countries. Positive progress should be made for solving the Kashmir dispute along with restoration in bus service, improvement in trade relations and other things.”

Mr Farooq agreed with the views of Mr Hussain for finding a solution of the Kashmir dispute with dialogues. “The people of Kashmir also want the violence to end. General Elections are going to be held in Pakistan soon, and it is our desire that all political parties include the Kashmir dispute in their manifestoes.”

He said, “We also agree to your suggestion for infusing unity among various Kashmiri parties. I would also like to meet you when I arrive in London in order to know your thoughts, understand your feelings, and benefit from your experience.”

Mr Farooq said that the forceful manner in which the MQM has raised the Kashmir dispute at international forums would help in solving the dispute according to the wishes of the Kashmiri people.

Mr Hussain directed the Co-ordination Committee to include in the MQM’s manifesto all the demands suggested by the Kashmiri representatives for finding a solution of the Kashmir dispute.
