BREAKING NEWS --- HUNGER STRIKE CAMP OF MQM
UPROOTED AND HUNGER STRIKERS TORTURED AND UNLAWFULLY DETAINED

London time: 11.10 p.m.
At
around 3.10 p.m. in Karachi, the personnel of law enforcement
agencies, CIA and Police led by ASP Parvez and SHO Sagheer Sheikh
attacked the MQM Hunger Strike Camp at the Karachi Press Club. In
this attack they ransacked the entire camp and unlawfully
detained the 22 hunger strikers including Mr. Khalid Bin Waleed,
Member of the Provincial Assembly of Sindh and Mr. Fareed Ahmed
Sheikh, Member of Provincial Assembly of Sindh along with several
other members of MQM. Among those arrested is one Mr. Imam Uddin,
Member of MQM Elders Wing. He is very sick due to the hunger
strike and at the time of arrest he was being medically treated.
Afterwards, MQM elected representatives Mr. Khalid Bin Waleed
and Mr. Fareed Ahmed were dropped off at Nine Zero (MQM Head
Office), but the whereabouts of the rest of the participants of
the hunger strike is not known. It is our strong apprehensions
that the life of the detained MQM workers and supporters are in
grave danger.
MQM
has commenced its global campaign of peaceful protests and has
been observing hunger strike throughout the world. These protests
are to attract the attention of international community towards
the atrocities carried out upon the Mohajir Nation. Since
yesterday, the MQM started its hunger strike campaign in Karachi,
Sindh, to protest against the gross violation of human rights.
Today this peaceful protest was most brutally crushed with the
use of State force, which is once again a clear indication of the
state of affairs in the urban centres of Sindh, southern
Pakistan.
This inhuman and brutal action of the law enforcement agencies
is the continuation of the policy of the Nawaz Sharif Government
to physically subjugate the entire Mohajir Nation and to crush
its political representative party, the MQM. For this purpose the
Federal Government has appointed the notorious Mr. Syed Ghaus Ali
Shah as the Chief Advisor Sindh.
