DEMONSTRATION HELD IN SOUTH AFRICAON THE ISSUE OF WATER SHORTAGE AND ATROCITIES IN THE PROVINCE OF SINDH, PAKISTAN.

Pretoria

On the issue of shortage of water, unlawful arrests of MQM and JSQM leaders and workers, MQM South Africa unit held a demonstration in front of Union Building in Pretoria. A large number of unit workers and Pakistani supporters including women and children attended the demonstration, which was started at 12.30pm and lasted for an hour.

The demonstrators distributed handbills to the passing by people and tourists and informed them about the purpose of the demonstration. The participants of the demonstration were holding placards and MQM flags. During the demonstration the protesters chanted the following slogans:

We want water-Sindh needs water, Release MQM and JSQM leaders and workers, Stop atrocities against the people of Sindh, No to Kala Bagh Dam. Go back-Go Back-Army Go Back.

At the end a delegation of MQM South Africa unit handed over separate petitions for the President and Foreign Secretary of the South Africa. The petition for the President was received by the President administrative secretary Mr Elias Ndlom and for the Foreign Secretary was received by the administrative secretary Mr Paul Siljeur.In the petition an appeal was made to the President and the Foreign Secretary to use their good offices and ask the military government to stop atrocities against the people of Sindh, release all MQM and JSQM leaders and take remedial steps to remove the water shortage in the province of Sindh.

Afterwards the demonstrators held another demonstration in front of Pakistan High Commission and handed over a petition to the first secretary Mr Rafi Shah.

DEMONSTRATION IN FRONT OF UNITED NATIONS HEADQUARTERS ON THE ISSUE OF WATER SHORTAGE IN THE PROVINCE OF SINDH, PAKISTAN.

In sixth phase of MQM’S worldwide protest campaign, MQM overseas USA & CANADA held a demonstration in front of UN Headquarters in New York which was organised by the MQM New York Unit against the shortage of water and continuing atrocities against the people of Sindh in Pakistan.

The Deputy Convenor of MQM Coordination Committee and member of the suspended National Assembly of Pakistan Dr Khalid Maqbool Siddiqui, Member Coordination Committee and member of the suspended Provincial Assembly Sindh Arif Siddiqui, MQM New York unit office bearers, workers and Pakistani supporters participated in the demonstration. The protesters were holding placards, banners and portraits of MQM founder leader Mr Altaf Hussain.

During the demonstration they chanted the following slogans:
Sindh wants water, No to Kala Bagh Dam, Stop atrocities on Sindh and Release all MQM and JSQM leaders and workers.

The protesters distributed handbills to the local people and the tourists who showed their keen interest and asked several questions about this demonstration. The workers of the MQM informed them about the unlawful arrests of MQM and JSQM leaders and artificially created water shortage in the province of Sindh by the Punjabi establishment.

At the end of demonstration MQM deputy convenor Dr Khalid Maqbool Siddiqui handed over a petition for the United Nations Secretary General Kofi Annan, which was taken by the Asian Desk Officer of United Nations. In this petition an appeal was made to the Secretary General to take notice of the shortage of water, on going atrocities and human right violations in the province of Sindh.

MQM WASHINGTON UNIT HELD DEMONSTRATION ON THE ISSUE OF WATER SHORTAGE IN SINDH

In the fifth phase of MQM’s world wide protest campaign against the water shortage in the Sindh province of Pakistan, MQM overseas USA & CANADA held a demonstration in front of State Department in Washington State which was organised by MQM overseas Washington Unit.

This demonstration was attended by the member of MQM Coordination Committee and member of the suspended National Assembly of Pakistan Arif Khan Advocate, large number of workers and Pakistani supporters. The protesters were holding placards and banners on which water issue and atrocities against the people of Sindh province was mentioned.

During the demonstration the large number of participants chanted the following slogans:
We want water, No water-No taxation, No justice-No justice, Water for Sindh-Water for Life, No to Kala Bagh Dam, and Release MQM and JSQM leaders & workers.

After a while an official of Pakistan Desk US State Department Ms Betty Bernstein Zabza came down to meet the protesters and asked them about the protest and listened their views very attentively. The protesters informed Ms Betty Bernstein Zabza about the severe water shortage in the province of Sindh and unlawful arrests of MQM and JSQM leaders and workers.

The protesters handed over a petition for the State Department to Ms Berstein in which the issue of short supply of water to  the province of Sindh, atrocities against the people of Sindh province, unlawful arrests of MQM and JSQM leaders and workers on a large scale, Extrajudicial killings of sindhi youths by the Punjabi police and its Punjabi establishment was mentioned and an appeal was made to the US government to use their good offices and ask the Military Government to stop brutalities against the Sindh province.

During the demonstration US President George W. Bush arrived at the State Department. The protesters raised slogans and waived MQM flags and in response US President waived his hand to the demonstrators as a sign of acknowledgement.

DEMONSTRATION IN FRONT OF AMNESTY INTERNATIONAL BY MQM IN MONTREAL, CANADA ON THE ISSUE OF WATER SHORTAGE IN SINDH

In fourth phase of MQM’S world wide demonstration campaign on the issue of lack of water supply and ongoing atrocities committed by the establishment of Pakistan against the people of Sindh, the MQM overseas unit Montreal, Canada held a demonstration in front of the office of Amnesty International, in Montreal, Canada.

Large number of office bearers, workers, supporters, women and children were present in this demonstration. The protesters were holding placards, banners and raised slogans to stop atrocities for the people of Sindh, specially for shortage of water and demanded their due share of water and for the rights of Urdu and Sindhi speaking people.

In the end, a delegation handed over a petition to the representative of Amnesty International, informed them about the prevailing situation in the Sindh, and appealed them to raise their voice against the injustices and violations of human rights.

In an another phase of MQM’s world wide protest campaign, a demonstration was held in the grater area of Toronto in Canada, organised by the MQM overseas unit USA & CANADA which was attended by a large number of MQM workers, Urdu and Sindhi speaking Pakistani supporters, women and children in front of Pakistan Consulate.


According to the details, this demonstration was held against the denial of water to Sindh province by the establishment, on going discrimination and unlawful arrests of MQM and JSQM leaders, workers and its supporters by the law enforcement authorities.

The protesters were holding placards, flags of Pakistan and MQM and chanted slogans. This demonstration started at 10.00am and lasted until 12.30pm Canadian time. The protesters distributed handbills to the passing by local people and tourists and informed them about the ongoing atrocities committed by the establishment against the people of Sindh. They took deep interest and signed the petition.

The slogans chanted at the time of demonstration were: We want water, Sindh needs water, Release all MQM and JSQM leaders and workers, No to Kalabagh Dam, Go back Go back Army go back and “Give Punjab – Deny Sindh”.

In the end, a delegation of MQM overseas USA & CANADA of Grater Toronto Unit handed over a petition to the Consulate General of Pakistan Consulate.


PEACEFUL DEMONSTRATION AGAINST RAIDS, UNLAWFUL ARRESTS AND SHORTAGE OF WATER IN THE PROVINCE OF SINDH, PAKISTAN

According to the series of MQM worldwide protest, this was organised by MQM overseas Belgium unit in which a large number of workers and supporters were gathered in front of the office of Foreign Affairs in Brussels. This demonstration started at Belgium local time 11.00am and ended at 1.00pm.

This demonstration was carried out for engineered artificial water shortage, raids, and arrests for the leaders, workers and supporters of MQM and JSQM in Sindh, Pakistan. During the demonstration the participants distributed the leaflets among the passing by local people and foreigners and apprised them about the prevailing situation in Sindh and usurpation of the rights of the rights by the federation, illegal raids, torture and unlawful arrests of MQM and JSQM leaders, workers and its supporters.

The participants were holding placards and chanting slogans. The slogans raised at the time of demonstration were:
We need water, Sindh needs water, Release all MQM and JSQM leaders and workers, Stop operation against MQM and JSQM, No to Kalabagh dam and stop human right violations in Sindh.

In the end, the participants handed over a signed petition to the officials of Foreign Affairs.



PEACEFUL DEMONSTRATION OF MQM IN CALGARY, CANADA

In the first phase of the MQM Worldwide Protest organised by MQM Overseas America and Canada Unit, huge number of workers and supporters of MQM gathered in front of the Mayor Office, City Hall in Calgary, Canada.    The demonstration was part of the MQM's ongoing World Wide Protest drive against the engineered and artificial water shortage to the province of Sindh, the persistent injustices against the province, usurpation of the rights of the Sindh province by the federation in collusion with the establishment and the barbaric torture, illegal raids and unlawful arrests of MQM and JSQM leaders, workers and supporters.  The demonstration was largely attended by MQM workers, supporters and local Pakistanis.

The women and children were also present. The participants were carrying MQM flags, placards and Quaid-e-Tehreek Altaf Hussain's portrait.  During the demonstration, MQM workers distributed leaflets and fliers among the passers by to apprise them about the situation in Province of Sindh.

Some of the slogans raised at the protest were:  We Want Water, Sindh Want Water, Sindhi Mohajir Bhai Bhai, Go Back Go Back Army Go Back, No Justice No Peace and We Want Justice.
