THIRD DAY OF KKF ANTI-POLIO CAMPAIGN (23 August 2001)
Pakistan time: 4 p.m.
The third day of anti-polio campaign by the KKF began in Karachi early this morning. Similar to the previous two days of the campaign the KKF volunteers continued thier hard work to provide immunization to as many children as possible. The Campaign will end today. It has been reported that during the three days soeme 20000 volunteers participated along side the MQM Medical Aid Committee, Members of the Paramedical Staff and other wings of the MQM fully participated. The representative of the World Health Organisation (WHO) also visited the KKF camps and praised their voluntary efforts.

In Hyderabad, on the popular demand of the public the anti-polio campaign has been extended for two days. During these two days only ambulance mobile service will be available for polio vaccination.

 

 

 


SECOND DAY OF KKF ANTI-POLIO CAMPAIGN (22 August 2001)

Pakistan time: 10.00 a.m.
The second day of anti-polio campaign by the KKF began in Karachi early this morning. It has been reported that overnight some of camps were brought down. However, the volunteers continued with the immunization campaign.

MQM Deputy Convenor Ms Nasreen Jalil and other members of MQM Coordination Committee, visited the KKF Camps in all the five districts of Karachi. They even went door-to-door to check if each and every household has been made aware of the polio vaccination campaign. During the visits, they praised the hard work of the KKF volunteers.

 

Moreover, MQM Deputy Convenor and President KKF Sheikh Liaquat Hussain, visited KKF Camps in Hyderabad. He praised the hard workd of KKF volunteers and the MQM elected representatives for making the polio campaign a great success.

Most successful first day of the KKF Anti-Polio Campaign in Karachi, Hyderabad and other cities of SIndh Province, came to end today.

KKF ANTI-POLIO CAMPAIGN CONTINUES SUCCESSFULLY
The overwhelmingly successful KKF Anti-Polio Camapaign is continuing in Karachi, Hyderabad and other cities of Sindh Province. Large Number of children have been vaccinated so far. Despite a few cases of the highhandedness of the local police, the volunteers of KKF are continuing with their immunization campaign. Mobile teams of volunteers, struggling hard are trying their ebst to reached out to each and every household through their door-to-door campaign.

MQM Deputy Convenor and President KKF Sheikh Liaquat Hussain is monitoring the entire campaign from the KKF Head Office in Karachi. Moreover, the MQM Deputy Convenors Aftab Ahmed Sheikh and Ms Nasreen Jalil, and others visited different camps in Karachi and personally took part in the campaign by participating in the vaccination.

In Hyderabad, the campaign is being observed throughout. The campaign in Hyderabad is being monitored by the former Members of Provincial Assembly of Sindh Afzaal Ahmed Shah, Zafar Rajput and Members of Zonal Committee, Hyderabad. Central Camp has been set-up at the KKF Office in Hyderabad.

KKF CAMP RAIDED AT LIAQUATABAD, KARACHI
With total disregard to the social welfare activity of the KKF and the involvement of the volunteers to free Karachi of polio, the personnel of Paramilitary Rangers, CIA and Super Market Police Station at Liaquatabad, Karachi, raided the KKF Camp, which was set-up near Post Office. The raiding party was led by infamous SHO Nasir Hussain and resorted to indiscriminate firing. During the raid, polio vaccines were confiscated and dozens of KKF volunteers present at the Camp, including several MQM office bearers and workers, were arbitrarily arrested, brutally tortured and taken to the Police Station. Khidmat-e-Khalq Foundation (KKF) begins its Three-Day Anti-Polio Campaign in the urban centres of Sindh, including Karachi and Hyderabad. Thousands of volunteers of KKF have spread throughout the cities to carryout polio vaccination amongst the citizens. The KKF in association with the WHO and UNICEF has organised this polio campaign with a commitment to fully eradicate polio from Pakistan. Some 250 Camps have been set-up in different parts of the city of Karachi with the main office at the KKF Head Office at ST-7, Block-14, Federal B. Area, Karachi, Pakistan. Similarly in Hyderabad, the main camp has been set-up at the KKF Building.

Moreover, several other camps have been set-up throughout the interior of Sindh. Apart from these camps, thousands of KKF volunteers have organised "mobile teams" for taking the polio vaccine door-to-door and administer the immunization at the doorstep.
