Karachi 12 May 2007:The MQM Co-ordination Committee has announced that MQM will observe a day of mourning all over the country on Sunday to mourn the martyrs who were killed during the firing on the MQM’s peaceful rally by the armed terrorists. On the day of mourning the Quran Khawani and Fatiha Khawani will be offered for the martyrs of MQM. The MQM Co-ordination Committee has appealed to the workers and supporters to offer the Quran Khawani and Fatiha Khawani for the martyrs of MQM on the day of mourning.

Preparation for Another Unprecedented Rally in Karachi
on 12 May 2007 Underway After the Rally of 15 April 2007

The Central Co-ordination Committee (Rabita Committee) of Muttahida Quami Movement is preparing for another peaceful and unprecedented rally in Karachi for the independence of judiciary and against those political and religio-political parties who are exploiting the judicial crisis and using the Chief Justice Iftikhar Mohammad Chaudhry to destabilise the incumbent democratically elected government. The Members of the Rabita Committee, both in Karachi and London are monitoring the preparation for the rally by physically visiting MQM Sector and Unit offices in Karachi and over the telephone from London while Zonal offices in interior of Sindh are being monitored over the telephone from where convoys after convoys would reach Karachi to attend the Rally on 12 May 2007.

Eyewitness accounts claim that the general public has also joined the MQM workers and office bearers in the preparation as their fervour for participation in the rally is rising. Flocks of people are converging on the Sector, Zonal and Unit offices of the MQM while telephone lines have also been jammed by the high level of public interest in finding out details of the arrangement for their participation.  

Workers and office bearers of the MQM contacting people on door to door basis and also distributing pamphlets for the awareness of the people concerning the present crisis and informing people about the arrangements. Big banners and posters have also been posted on main road junctions, roundabouts and major buildings in Karachi, Hyderabad and in the rest of Sindh province.

Reports are reaching the offices of the MQM that people from Punjab, Balochistan and NWFP provinces are reaching Karachi in huge numbers to participate in the rally.

Reportedly, Pakistanis living overseas are also telephoning their relatives in Pakistan persuading them to attend the rally to defeat the designs of the opposition political and religio-political parties to destabilise the democratically elected incumbent government.
